NUX Liverpool – 13 March 24 – How to get your next UX role

How to get your next UX role

Join us at Lovelocks Coffee Shop in central Liverpool for an exciting event on how to land your next UX role!

Hear from three speakers at different stages in their UX careers who’ve been navigating the current UX job market about their experiences.  They will share valuable insights and reflect on their journeys.

Paul Roberts

Paul Roberts – Starting out in UX Design

New to the UX sector, Paul will be talking about making the leap to UX design from a mixed background of web design, business development, project management, and copywriting, in sectors like medtech and human rights tech consultancy. His talk will explore the diverse strategies and tactics he’s employing to try and break into the field during the recent climate of layoffs, hiring freezes, stiff competition from mid/seniors, and the nightmare of modern recruitment practices. Mindset, mentors, moving sideways, getting creative, and developing a niche position. Is a CV and Portfolio enough anymore?

Jack Murphy

Jack Murphy – Service Designer

Jack currently works as a Service Designer but has experience as a User Researcher and Experience Designer. These experiences allow Jack to get under the skin of the “why” on a project and ask insightful questions about audiences, how people are interacting with a service and what can be done to improve things. In his talk, Jack will share his experiences of breaking into the industry and changing roles whilst working within an organisation.

Lorna Kenwright

Lorna Kenwright – Senior UX Designer

As, a UX Designer with 13+ years experience in various permanent private sector roles, Lorna has recently been exploring the UX contracting market. Drawing from her firsthand experience, she offers valuable insights on optimising job searches, leveraging job platforms, building recruiter relationships, refining CVs, establishing an online presence and the difference between inside and outside IR35. Her talk is aimed not just at senior job seekers but at anyone aiming to transition into contracting in today’s job market.

We’ll also be joined by experienced UX recruiters who’ll share their wisdom and what they look for when trying to fill a role. There will be an opportunity to chat to them directly, if you would like to.
