NUX Leeds meet-ups are kindly sponsored by SimpleUsability.

SimpleUsability

The next NUX Leeds event takes place on Thursday 22nd January and will be with our usual hosts Simple Usability at Marshall Mills, Marshall Street, Leeds.

Join us from 6:00pm for food, drinks and networking and our talk will start at 6:30pm.

Can design constraints be freeing and creative freedom constricting? And how do you start with a blank sheet of paper?

with Richard Halford, IBM.

In summary (spoiler alert) the answers to these questions are  “Yes”, “Yes” and “with creative freedom”. Richard Halford will explore these three rather contradictory answers, using three projects which stand out in his 13+ years in UX, as extraordinary opportunities for having taught him so much about UX, and continue to highlight just how much he still has to learn.

Is a constrained UX better than a highly flexible one? Where do you start when given a brief that begins with “In a perfect world…”. Share your thoughts, experiences, examples and memes on Twitter beforehand using #NUXUK (some of which may feature during the event).

About Richard….

Since starting out as a digital producer in 2002, he has gained a broad and varied array of project experiences having worked from agency side to client side and in-house to consulting. But, the key thing, that is as exciting today as it was when that first Nissan Micra microsite went out, is seeing people use the things we design – that is what gets Richard out of bed and excited about his work every day.

Follow Richard on Twitter @halfordrich and see some of the work he has done at www.richardhalford.com.
