Making More Senses of UX (workshop)

with Alastair Somerville

Making More Senses of UX is a 1 hour introduction to what multimodal and post-screen UX means; both the opportunities and threats in designing across all of our 9 senses. Using his experiences and research in designing for people with different sensory and cognitive capacities, Alastair Somerville will take you through some short sensory and mindfulness exercises to explore what UX and usability in a world of wearable and smart environment devices could mean.

About Alastair

Alastair Somerville is a specialist in sensory cognition and accessibility. He works with international museums on projects to create physical and digital interpretations of places, art and text. His workshops enable people to understand more about their own senses and more about how to create multimodal experiences for everyone.

He has run workshops on sensory user experience and behavioural design at conferences, including SxSw Interactive, ConveyUX and UX Cambridge, as well as for government and private organisations. He will be running a core conversation session at SxSW Interactive about inclusion and emotion in wearable tech on 15th March.
