Agenda

6.00pm – 6.30pm – Networking, food and drinks

6.30pm – 6.45pm – Intro from Bupa the NUX team

6.45pm – 7.30pm – Critting with confidence – (Henry Baker, Lead Content Designer – Bupa)

Henry Baker
We’ve all found ourselves in a situation where we’ve had to defend our work—be that from other designers, an overbearing stakeholder, a finicky legal team, or your own self-doubt.The process can leave us downtrodden and brow-beaten. It’s understandable that sometimes we want to shut off from the world and keep our work to ourselves. But it needn’t be that way.

Enter: Crits.
With crits, you can inspire your team to create inclusive, progressive spaces to share without despair. And rather than strive to get feedback, create an environment that’s completely open and welcoming of it.

We’ll be discussing how you can encourage your team to get help from others in a fun and constructive way, create a space for sharing and how you can work together to solve complex design problems.

7.30pm – 7.45pm – Break

7.45pm – 8.30pm – Designing for value through evidence based UX practice (Duncan Shingleton, Director of Product Design – UserTesting.com)

Duncan Shingleton
Approximately 50% of product budgets are allocated to reworking and optimising post-launch experiences*. Delivering the right product, done right, is evidently hard and takes the effort of product managers, designers, researchers, writers and engineers. It’s time to support all of these disciplines to de-risk decision making and reduce conflict across their product development lifecycle.Director of Product Design at UserTesting, Dr Duncan Shingleton, discusses how any one of these disciplines can embed customer feedback into their practice to avoid rework at a time when budgets are shrinking.

In this talk, you will walk away with the understanding of:

  • Identifying your why; what is value to your customers, where does it exist, and how might it differ to the views of your business.
  • Defining your how; the lenses by which you can approach the design of your products, services and experiences.
  • Activating your what; using insight as a tool to move from a position of subjectivity to objectivity, that enables you to have confidence that the product you ship will be a product your customers love.

8.30pm – Wrap up and after social at The Dockyard
