Creating an accessible organisational culture
When it comes to why we should consider accessibility within our software development process it’s rarely disputed.
Although Clare has always worked with teams who really care about customer’s needs, when it comes to actually implementing accessibility, it can be daunting prospect. The approach can be minimal, an afterthought that is often time-boxed. Accessibility is culturally seen as separate work stream, it’s seen as user enhancement that we can address at a later stage.
The only way we can change this culture is by embedding accessibility throughout the full end to end delivery life-cycle, educating individuals on how they can make a real difference, making our processes more robust and humanising the accessibility guidelines.
Clare will talk you through the approach she is taking with the digital teams across Sky to change the culture of accessibility and to make sure that inclusive design is at the heart of all good software development.
