Innovation in an Agile Environment
with Mark Shahid
This talk will be exploring modern ways of implementing UX practices in to an Agile workflow in a post-Lean UX world. Lean UX has been an important movement across tech companies across the globe for a few years now and for some of us the subject is even becoming stale. The purpose of this talk is to ask “What now?” of Lean UX, and ask how innovation can sometimes fall off the delivery train in a large commercial environment.
As software development practices mature, UX practitioners may struggle to find themselves included in the decision making process. And if they are included, they may not be engaged in the correct manner, often finding themselves servicing the delivery pipeline instead of getting ahead and prescribing the a user-centred product direction.
As more and more organisations adopt the iterative approach typical to an Agile development environment, we can quickly find ourselves lost in a bubble of feature factories and deadline-driven delivery pipelines. Although the principles of Lean UX can help us iterate with continuous user input, without a “big vision” for our product(s) we can quickly lose sight of the product direction.
In this talk Mark will explore how UX innovation can flourish in an Agile environment.
