Security vs. UX: Deathmatch
with Chris Collingridge
You’ve probably heard the observation pretty regularly that it’s a choice between user experience and security. Since Chris started working for a security company, he has started to question that sort of ‘accepted knowledge’.
In this talk, Chris will talk about why he believes security is a fundamentally human concern, but while we know how to stay safe in the physical environment, it’s tough to know what to do in the digital world. Chris is going to be making the case that as application/web designers/developers today, we’re making lots of bad choices in the way we make users interact with us, and there are some things we could use today – for ourselves, and for the applications we write – that would make things better. These include both practical suggestions we could use right now, and a call to arms to proactively think about how to design safer environments for people.
About the Speaker
Chris Collingridge
Since the 20th Century, Chris has been working as an interaction and user interface designer, user researcher and tester, user experience strategist, and evangelist.
He believes that – by inventing and producing outstanding products – UX can make the world a better, more fun, more engaging, more rewarding place, and that only organisations who understand & act on that will thrive in the long-term.
Like everyone else, he hates doors with bad handles and trying to remember his password.
