SimpleUsability and Orchard

The next NUX Leeds event takes place on Thursday 30th July and will be with our usual hosts Simple Usability at Marshall Mills, Marshall Street, Leeds.

Join us from 6:00pm for food, drinks, networking and our talk will start from 6:30pm.

This months talk will be a show & tell about wearables, with Amy Higgott, James Medd & Lucy Buykx, SimpleUsability.

With Apple Watch outselling even the iPhone in its first few weeks there is a huge opportunity for developing new experiences. So how do we, as UX designers and researchers, go about designing a whole new experience and evaluating users’ experience? Here at SimpleUsability towers we’ve gone for a form of participatory research, putting a selection of wearables through their paces to fully understand the user experience and stimulate ideas for design and research techniques. In this session we will present our user experience stories of Apple Watch, Pebble and Fitbit in a show and tell. We invite you to bring your wearables and experiences to make this event an opportunity for all to contribute and learn.

Brief intro to your presenters

Amy Higgott is a UX researcher who hasn’t worn a watch in 2 years but is always fascinated with how new tech can fit into (and hopefully enrich) our lives.

James Medd is chief technology botherer at SimpleUsability, and a musician, artist, and maker elsewhere. Pebble devotee, Apple Watch sceptic.

Lucy Buykx is a UX researcher with a PhD in watching users get stuck on stuff, a long time Fitbit fan and a wannabe UP3 fan…should they ever release it!
